The Brief
The ADWEB Agency was invited by Shell International, London to participate in an international competitive tender for the creation of a world-first in global portal technology and online community-creation, developing a total motorsport portal that gathered together all Shell's motorsport interests and sites under the one virtual roof.
The Challenge
The project that includes Ferrari, Shell Championship Series V8 cars, Dick Johnson Racing, Ducati and will eventually host other regional motor interests was required to be truly international in its presentation to all global motorsport fans, broad in its offer of motoring coverage and highly interactive and community driven.
The Success
The site was launched in the heady days of Season 2001's Australian Grand Prix in March 2001 to international acclaim. The site offers regularly updated race results, news and feature stories, online interviews, forums, tipping, and a range of interactive E-Postcards, screensavers and wallpapers. Database management came to the fore through weekly newsletters mailed to tens of thousands of motorsport fans across the globe.
